MKTTn broth (Müller-Kauffmann with tetrathionate-novobiocin) is one of the two selective enrichment media, together with RVS broth, used for the detection of salmonella in food. Together with MSRV, it is also part of the protocol implemented for the isolation and identification of Salmonella in the environment of animal productions, in birds and in mammals. MKTTn broth is also used as a second selective enrichment medium for the detection of Salmonella in water.
